Senior Center

senior_centerThe Senior Center of Milford provides services and activities for older adults (60+) in Seward County, but everyone of any age is welcome to participate in the activities at the Senior Center.

Volunteers are always welcome!  Many opportunities exist for volunteers to share their time and talents. Over the years they have helped by preparing and serving meals, delivering meals, training people to use the exercise equipment, preparing for our fundraisers, leading a new game, or teaching crafts, and exercise classes to name a few.  New ideas are always welcome!

People come in for coffee, morning pastries, and to get caught up on the local news.  The center opens at 8 a.m. and is open until 4 p.m.  Come anytime!

At the center we offer multiple types of exercise opportunities:  yoga, resistance bands, Wii bowling, and an exercise room in the basement with several types of equipment.  You are always welcome to try a class or maybe just come and observe if you’re not sure what the class is about.  Everyone starts at the beginning, so just give it a try!

Nutritious noon meals are served five days per week.  Reservations must be made one day in advance by 1 p.m.  The suggested contribution for regular meals is $7.00 for people 60 years of age and older.  The cost for those under 60 years old is $8.00.  The third Wednesday of each month is a fundraiser meal, typically a Potato Bake.  It is open to the community and the cost of the fundraiser meal is $7.00.  The fourth Wednesday of each month is scheduled to celebrate that month’s birthdays.  A special noon meal will be served and entertainment will follow.  All are welcome, but reservations must be made in advance.  The cost of the birthday meal is $7.00.  The monthly meal calendar is posted below.

The Center also offers regularly scheduled blood pressure screenings on the last Monday of each month.  A foot care clinic is regularly scheduled about every six weeks, but you need to check for the dates on the calendar.

If you enjoy jigsaw puzzles, there is usually one in the process of being completed.  Come and help put it together!

There is a scheduled Pitch game every Tuesday starting around 1 p.m.  Come and join the game, learn how to play, and enjoy visiting with the other players.  Want to play a different game?  Just ask and someone will join you.

B-I-N-G-O!  Who doesn’t like to give a yell when they win a game?  Bingo is played on the first Wednesday of the month at 12:45 p.m.

Coffee.  Conversation.  Fellowship.  Exercise.  Games.  Meals.  There’s something for everyone!  Come see for yourself!  All scheduled activities are on the Activity Calendar.

The Center also offers regularly scheduled blood pressure screenings and foot care.
